Finally taking to the sidewalks after a long winter, runners and walkers are looking for races to get them motivated while enjoying the fresh air and mild temperatures. This summer, we are pleased to be partnering with the Bellin Run for the June 14 race at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay. By registering for the race through Girl Scouts, a portion of the registration fee supports local leadership programs for girls. Participants also receive Tough Cookies team goodies. Also on June 14, we will be hosting our second annual Thin Mint Sprint 5K at Carson Park in Eau Claire. The race features a half-mile Shortbread Shuffle kid’s race and a community expo with DJ entertainment.
“We have found that our girls are very interested in being fit and active and we look for program opportunities to support them in these goals,” said Gwen Taylor, Director of Innovation and Program for GSNWGL. “Some might find it ironic that proceeds from the sale of cookies help support these types of athletic endeavors but historically the Girl Scouts have always been about giving girls opportunities to test themselves physically in a number of ways.”
Registration for both races is open! Learn more here: gsnw.gl/runs. Individuals, teams, and families are encouraged to register as soon as possible for the lowest cost available and to guarantee a team T-shirt and other goodies.
