Director of Brand and Marketing

Position Summary

This is a professional position which provides leadership and direction for the development and implementation of innovative marketing strategies to proactively expand the brand image and visibility of Girl Scouts of the Northwestern Great Lakes.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop, implement and evaluate an annual comprehensive integrated marketing plan to market a positive, contemporary Girl Scout brand image and message to external and internal audiences.
  2. Manage production of key council publications and presentations including case statements, solicitations, acknowledgements, newsletters, annual report, brochures, radio and TV spots, photos and recognitions. Approve all publication materials produced to ensure a consistent message and strong brand awareness.
  3. Establish and maintain effective relationships with media, organizational groups and businesses throughout the jurisdiction to further the image of Girl Scouting. Act as council spokesperson for major media campaigns.
  4. Responsible for crisis response and maintaining the crisis communication plan.
  5. Oversee the development and maintenance of the collection of photos, testimonials, press clippings, etc. which can be used to illustrate the work of the council.
  6. Oversee the council website to ensure it meets brand image standards, and accurately reflects and communicates key council strategies.
  7. Recruit, hire, train, manage, coach and evaluate department staff.
  8. Contribute to the council’s planning process; specifically in the development and administration of annual plans of work, budget, individual performance appraisals and annual organizational review.
  9. Support council functions through promotion of council sponsored activities. Promote the Girl Scout culture of philanthropy by cultivating and building relationships with donors.

Position Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business or Communications or equivalent experience. Five years of experience focused on marketing and communications.
  2. Supervisory experience required.
  3. Meticulous written communication skills and strong verbal skills including polished presentation and public speaking skills required.
  4. Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with publishing systems preferred.
  5. Self-directed, creative, organized and detail oriented with ability to work under pressure and shift priorities in response to changing needs.
  6. Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people. Unequivocal commitment to pluralism.
  7. Valid driver’s license, good driving record and reliable transportation. Occasional travel is required.
  8. The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is occasionally required to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods of time. The employee is occasionally required to walk, and to frequently operate office equipment manually. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Salary: 49,700 per year
Hours: Full-Time Exempt; 37.5 hours per week
