Day Camp & Summer Fun Days

Day Camp

Day camp is geared toward younger girls and runs all summer long. Day camp programs span 1-5 days in length with a variety of activities, and girls can return home to sleep in their own beds each night.

General Information

Programs run Mondays-Fridays from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
Two snacks will be provided daily.
Some programs offer a one-night overnight. See program description for details.
Day sessions are also available to fit every schedule! Pick as many days as you’d like and join a group of girls in camp activities for that day.

Themed Weeks

Themed weeks are designed to bring something extra to each week of camp. Campers are encouraged to dress up and join in with each theme. Some snacks and activities will also be geared toward the theme of the week.

Program Aide Training and Volunteer Information

Program Aides (PA) are important to our day camp programs. PAs are Girl Scout Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors who have completed PA training and are interested in working with younger girls.

PA training is offered at each day camp the first week of the summer. This training will help girls in grades 7-12 develop skills needed to work with younger girls in the troop, event, or camp setting. Holding the training at camp gives PAs hands-on experience during the trainings.

After completing PA training, PAs are welcome to volunteer at any day camp. PAs are placed based on availability, number of campers, and skill set.

Please note: Volunteering as a PA is not intended to substitute or replace the personal camp experience for a Girl Scout Cadette, Senior, or Ambassador. PAs are at camp to help younger girls, and this is not the same as being a camper themselves.

Before/After Care

Many parents/guardians have work schedules that differ from our camp schedule. All day camps are open 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. for the convenience of campers whose parents/guardians’ work schedules overlap with the 9 a.m.-4 p.m. camp day. There is a small $2 fee per day for the service, and we do require advance registration. Campers who arrive early or stay late are encouraged to bring along an extra snack and a book to read or game to play. Camp staff will provide some simple activities and games.

Day Camp Volunteers

Volunteers are an important part of our camp community. We are looking for women ages 18+ who would like to volunteer for one week of the summer as a camp counselor. Each volunteer will be placed with a group of girls to help plan and lead activities. There is a small stipend available to cover part of your camper’s fees if the volunteer is a parent/guardian. Parents/guardians will not be placed with the same group as their camper to ensure that every camper has the opportunity for an independent camp experience. Volunteers must commit to an entire weekend of camp. Contact dpolzin@gsnwgl.org for more information.

Day Camp Schedule

Summer Fun Days

Summer Fun Days (SFD) are Service Area-run day camps, planned and implemented by Service Area volunteers. SFD can take place at a Girl Scout or non-Girl Scout facility. They can last one day, a series of days throughout the summer, run as a day camp, an overnight, etc.

If you are interested in holding a SFD in your area, read through this packet for information on how to organize and run your event. Please fill out and return a SFD form so GSNWGL can help spread the word about the great opportunities available!

Themed T-Shirts

A SFD theme is chosen each year, and GSNWGL designs a custom T-shirt based on that theme. You may choose to purchase T-shirts from our Council for your event. If you are considering this, please remember to set your registration deadline to allow approximately three weeks for processing.

For more information on SFD T-shirts, contact Jessica at 888.747.6945, ext. 4523.
