In the hands of a Girl Scout, cookies can work magic and help girls do great things!
With the power of cookies, Girl Scouts have used profits to...
- Purchase pet supplies and food for local humane societies and animal rescues
- Donate to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, Haiti earthquake victims, and numerous other foundations and causes
- Buy fabric to make and donate blankets and clothes to local shelters and foundations
- Send cookies donated by customers to local food shelters and soldiers overseas
Girl Scout cookies help girls develop these important life skills:
GOAL-SETTING: Girls set goals individually and with their teams, create a plan to reach them, and develop cooperation and team building skills along the way!
DECISION MAKING: Girls help decide how their teams spend their cookie profits, furthering their critical thinking and problem solving skills that help them in many aspects of their lives.
MONEY MANAGEMENT: Girls take cookie orders, handle customers’ money, and gain valuable and practical financial literacy skills.
BUSINESS ETHICS: Girls are honest and responsible at every step of the Girl Scout Cookie Program. Their business ethics reinforce the positive values they develop as a Girl Scout.
PEOPLE SKILLS: Girls learn how to talk to, listen to, and work with all kinds of people while taking orders for cookies. These experiences help them develop healthy relationships and conflict-resolution skills.
All of this impacts girls’ personal and professional lives in countless ways. Through the Girl Scout Cookie Program, she will be someone who:
- Sets goals and meets deadlines
- Works well with others to arrive at decisions
- Is known to be reliable
- Manages personal money and business finances
- Understands customers and can influence others
- Everyone knows to be honest and trustworthy
