Connect December 2017 - Fund Development

As the holidays approach, many people look for ways of combining their desire to help the causes they believe in with their desire to save on taxes. For the charitably inclined, there are strategic ways of giving that can accomplish both goals.  So as you gear up for holiday shopping and end of year giving, remember these few tips on ways to give to Girl Scouts.

#1 Amazon Smile –  Do your holiday shopping today and give at the same time. All you have to do is go to  and type Girl Scouts of Northwestern Great Lakes into the charity search. Once you designate your charity, .5% of all your purchases goes back to Girl Scouts. Same Amazon, just giving back! Make sure to use whenever you shop to active the giving.

#2 –In Honor Donations -  Did you know that 79% of Americans would rather have a charitable donation given in their honor than receive a gift they wouldn’t use? Give to Girl Scouts in honor of the go-getters, innovators, risk-takers, and leaders in your life! We will send you a certificate that you can wrap up and give to that person you didn’t know what to get for the holidays!  Make your donation and specify who it is the gift is in honor of.

#3 Corporate/Workplace Giving –  A lot of employers have a Dec. 31st deadline to take advantage of these programs.  Does your employer have a volunteer grant or offer matching gifts? Many organizations provide incentives for employees to give of time or money to a charitable organization. By selecting GSNWGL as your organization, you’ll make a real difference in the lives of girls. Your company can also sponsor Girl Scout events like our Girls of Distinction Awards. Sponsorships are a great way to show how much a company cares about the community and supports girls.  To see if your company participates in matching gifts, search for them online now.. You can also find a list of our corporate partnership opportunities online.

Remember if your family or troop designates your gift to our Family Partnership Campaign girls will receive a Family Partnership patch.
