Girl Scout Leadership Journeys
A key part of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience is the leadership Journey, a coordinated series of activities grouped around a theme. Each Journey is tied to some of Girl Scouting's 15 national outcomes for girls, as defined in the Girl Scout Leadership Model. These outcomes are integral to the three leadership keys, Discover, Connect, and Take Action. Girls now have two series of leadership journeys to choose from: It's Your World - Change It! and It's Your Planet - Love It! Click here to learn more about Journeys.

Leadership Awards - The Highest Awards in Girl Scouting
In 1980, Girls Scouts introduced the Girl Scout Gold Award (for Girl Scouts 14-18) as its highest honor, along with the Girl Scout Silver Award (for Girl Scouts 11-14). To receive these awards, girls must meet requirements that help them prepare for, and complete, a special project benefiting their communities. Based on requests from Junior Girl Scouts (ages 8-11), the Girl Scout Bronze Award was introduced in 2001. Today these three awards are a highlight of the Girl Scout experience. Today these three awards are a highlight of the Girl Scout experience.

Girl Scout Gold Award
The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest achievement a Girl Scout 14 to 18 can earn. It represents the work and dedication a girl has shown to Girl Scouting and her community as well as her commitment towards making the world a better place. The Girl Scout Gold Award was updated in 2004. Earning the Gold Award requires hard work and a willingness to take on significant responsibility. It will involve decision making and the ability to follow a plan set by each girl. Someone once described the Girl Scout Gold Award as being "what you really want to be remembered for" in Girl Scouting. For many, the leadership skills, organizational skills, and sense of community and commitment that come from "going for the Gold" set the foundation for a lifetime of active citizenship.

Girl Scout Silver Award
The Girl Scout Silver Award is the highest achievement in for Girl Scouts 11-14. The Girl Scout Silver Award represents a girl's accomplishments in Girl Scouting and her community as she grows and works to improve her life and the lives of others. The first four requirements of the Girl Scout Silver Award help girls build skills, explore careers, gain leadership skills, and make a commitment to self-improvement. The Girl Scout Silver Award Project can be undertaken when the first four requirements are completed. It can be done as an individual or with a group. If done with a group, a girl must be responsible for a specific part of the project and evaluate her contribution to the project and the group.
