Girl Scouts: Building Leaders

The GSNWGL Habitat for Humanity build is in full swing! In partnership with Greater Fox Cities Area Habitat for Humanity, volunteers broke ground on June 19 at the single-family home being constructed in Menasha, WI. With the help of Girl Scout staff, volunteers, older girl members, community partners, and Habitat for Humanity volunteers, the home will be constructed all summer and completed in September 2012. The build is made possible by a full house sponsorship from the John J. and Ethel D. Keller Fund at the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley. Additional funding for GSNWGL’s involvement in the build comes from our Gold Level Sponsor, Associated Bank.

Plenty of opportunities for volunteer support are still available. Click here for a complete listing of available opportunities, and visit our Girl Scouts: Building Leaders page for photos of the build progress.

Additionally, our staff, volunteers, and girls in the Schofield, WI area are working on a playhouse build with Habitat for Humanity of Wausau. Work began June 19 on the playhouse for a Habitat for Humanity home being constructed in Schofield. The playhouse build will be completed on June 26. Volunteers are constructing the playhouse at the Girl Scout Service Center in Schofield, and it will be moved to the home site upon completion.

From community to community, GSNWGL is “building” leaders!
