In March 2010, Girl Scouts of the Northwestern Great Lakes' Board of Directors established a volunteer-led property task group. The group was charged with creating a long-range recommendation and plan for camp/program properties and service centers that would best meet the needs of girls and volunteers, today and well into the future.
On April 11, 2011, after reviewing market surveys, data, demographic and participation trends, and obtaining vast input from GSNWGL's stakeholders as well as a national property consultant, the task group presented its findings to the Board of Directors.
This vision and the subsequent decisions will better align all aspects and assets of our organization with the needs and wants of girls today. In order to achieve our vision, we will redistribute resources and enhance/ repurpose the properties with the greatest potential and adaptability as shown in the Annual Meeting LRPP Presentation and Take Away/Fact Sheet listed below.
The program vision that girls have asked GSNWGL to provide for their future is what we will deliver. While we are confident these decisions will help us develop and operate sites and facilities that best support the Girl Scout Leadership Experience within our council's ability to fund and maintain them… We are equally confident these decisions will continue our tradition of helping girls build lifelong friendships, memories and leadership skills.
