camp Programs

Girl Scout camp is the fun of summer camp combined with the leadership development of Girl Scouts. At camp, girls develop independence, self-confidence and leadership skills while gaining an appreciation for nature and making lifelong memories.

Girl Scouts of the Northwestern Great Lakes is proud to offer area Girl Scouts hundreds of summer program opportunities throughout the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and northern Wisconsin. During the summer months there are summer camp day and overnight programs for every girl. There are also opportunities for troops and Service Areas to camp at other times of the year, even during the winter!

A Note About Camp Safety
In Girl Scouting, safety is always our top priority, including at summer camp. Girl Scouts of the Northwestern Great Lakes is committed to hosting a camping experience that will protect and maintain the well-being of every Girl Scout by adhering to comprehensive program standards and safety guidelines for all camping activities. All of our Girl Scout camps meet or exceed all local and state camp safety management standards, as well as those established by Girl Scouts of the USA. Camp Birch Trails is also American Camp Association (ACA) accredited. Examples of our rigorous safety criteria include, but are not limited to, routine health and safety inspections performed by the Department of Health and Family Services; adherence to strict food safety practices; staff CPR/first aid certification; close contact with local law enforcement, fire and health departments; and maintenance of a 10:1 camper to staff ratio. If you have any questions or would like more information, please contact our Program Director at edunlavy@gsnwgl.org or 888.747.6945 ext 3367.

Additionally, for the safety of our girls and volunteers, camp directions and maps are provided only to girls and/or adults who have registered for a program or camp session. These are provided in the confirmation materials you receive after registration is complete. In reaching this decision we have considered different options, and do re-examine the subject from time to time, but continue to ultimately reach the conclusion that the safety of the girls is always our number one priority. By safeguarding the whereabouts of our programs we feel that we are helping to protect our members.
