CAMP Programs
Preparing for Camp

GSNWGL summer programs are a prime way for girls to experience Girl Scouting at its best, while making friends and memories for a lifetime! Set at our beautiful properties, there are exciting new opportunities and challenges for every girl to broaden her horizons, make new friends and discover new strengths. Sending your daughter to camp gives her more than just a chance to learn about nature, more than a canoeing adventure, and more than time for artistic exploration. The value of the gift of camp is clear when your daughter comes home with a greater sense of self and self-confidence.

GSNWGL Camps:

  • Empower girls to discover their interests and strengths, connect with others in a diverse setting and take action on issues that are important to them
  • Enhance teamwork and social skills through community living and group play
  • Develop skills, knowledge and self-confidence through exciting and challenging activities
  • Improve self-reliance and independent living skills by being away from home and responsible for age-appropriate tasks
  • Provide girls with opportunities for personal growth

GSNWGL summer programs offer a safe and enriching place that empowers your daughter to become a strong, resilient young woman. Finding the perfect session(s) for your daughter is the first step in ensuring that you both have the positive experience that is so important for her development.

  1. Determine what your daughter is ready for – day or resident camp. Day camp programs are perfect for those girls who are not yet ready to stay overnight for a full week but want all of the camp fun. Week-long day camp programs are held at Camp Winnecomac and 1-2 day adventures are held at Camp Del O’Claire and Camp Sacajawea. If your daughter is ready to stay overnight for a full week at camp, she’ll enjoy the various programs and unique adventures at our resident camps – Camp Birch Trails, Camp Nawakwa and Camp Nesbit. Camp Ishnala and Camp Cuesta have great weekend programs specially designed for troops or families to attend together.

  2. Select a camp program that fits your daughter’s interests, abilities and personality so she can make new friends with similar interests! Summer programs range from hiking, biking and horseback riding to canoeing, swimming and sports, with numerous traditional camp activities sprinkled between. Girl Scout camp provides the structure for girls to create their own experiences, reflect on them, and apply what they learn to new challenges. If your daughter is both physically and emotionally ready for embarking on a leadership wilderness adventure, we have a great tripping program that allows girls to start with a small trip, then work their way up to accomplish amazing, confidence-building feats!

  3. Another way to help her feel secure is to register together with a friend that’s interested in the same session. Be sure to fill in the “buddy” information on the Registration form!

  4. Select a camp program that fits your family’s budget and summer schedule. Our summer programs start June 20 and run through August 20, all at reasonable costs subsidized by our generous donors, with financial assistance available if needed.

  5. All GSNWGL camp staff and volunteers are well trained, energetic and caring adults eager to share their love of Girl Scouting and the outdoors with girls. Each one completes an application process including criminal and sexual offender background checks, and all camps follow state and local guidelines as well as strict Girl Scout safety standards.

Once you determine what your daughter is ready for and interested in, register early to ensure placement in the session(s) of your choice – as sessions fill up fast! Now that your daughter is on her way, share your own positive camp experiences to build her excitement and get her mentally and emotionally prepared. Your confidence is contagious! And finally, be sure your camper receives plenty of happy mail while at overnight camps. Then sit back and relax – we’ll handle the rest!
