Long Range Property Plan Updates for January
As we announced in the October LRPP updates, the Master Plans were adopted by our Board of Directors on September 26, 2012. The Adhoc property committee has been working with staff and finalized the list of proposed development projects. We continue to work with Somerville Architects to further refine building design, determine final costs and develop a proposed construction schedule. The proposed projects, contingent upon the final costs, will be a new shower house at Birch Trails and Pow Low, Cabins at Cuesta and day camp unit shelters at Nawakwa and Sacajawea. As the details become available we will share. Continue to watch for articles in Connect and updates on the website.
Green Bay Service Center is moving
Why is GSNWGL relocating the Green Bay Service Center (GBSC)?
The move is part of our long range property plan and is designed to better serve the programming needs of our growing membership and community-based staff structure.
Will there still be a retail store in the new location?
Yes, a retail component is very important in providing convenience and service to our Green Bay metro area membership. Our new location will have a retail presence.
Will there be a “Journey World” in the new location as referenced in your long range property plan?
After carefully studying the possibility of a “Journey World” in the Green Bay area it was determined this model could be accomplished through existing program venues in the area. The Green Bay area is fortunate to have many great program locations that replicate the “Journey World” model and support the Green Bay area’s program focus on STEM. Through community partnerships with local organizations and businesses, we will be well-equipped to fulfill this vision.
Will there still be space for my troop to meet at the new location?
Yes. In searching for a better suited location, our intention is to maintain a modest space for troop and volunteer meetings.
Will there still be programming offered out of the new GBSC?
The new location will have limited program space. Instead we are collaborating with the many wonderful organizations and program venues throughout the Green Bay metro area to support the STEM program focus and other key programming initiatives.
When will this move take place?
The plan is to sell the existing Service Center and then relocate with little interruption to services. Given the current real-estate market, the move timeline is difficult to predict. Volunteers and staff and will be kept informed of relevant communications as the process unfolds.
Do you have any ideas of where you are looking or where you might move?
We have not determined a specific location in the Green Bay area at this time but the search has begun. We are looking for a location that is accessible, highly visible, and meets our space and parking parameters, in addition to the previously mentioned needs.
