Long Range Property Plan Updates for Mar 1st

Somerville Architects/Engineers, Inc. will be partnering with the Girl Scouts of the Northwestern Great Lakes Inc. (GSNWGL). Leading the team is our very own Girl Scout leader, Melanie Parma. In addition to being a gifted architect, Melanie has been involved with our organization for the past 7 years. She has helped to give her 3 daughters and other girls a leadership experience at Wilder Elementary School in Green Bay. We are very excited for this new partnership supporting the next step in our long-range plan. The partnership will also support our council’s Forever Green Initiatives; Melanie has recently earned the LEED Green Associate accreditation. LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings through the USGBC. The contract services will include Architectural and Engineering (A/E) services to develop a master plan, site development, schematic designs and cost estimates for six (6) of the GSNWGL’s properties in Northern Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

Repurposing Updates:

Wisconsin Rapids Service Center – We have developed a program vision with a focus on Environmental Studies. In the coming months we will transition the current Service Center to program space. The new space will accommodate troop meetings, overnights and the day camp office/store.

Green Bay Service Center – We have developed a program vision for the Green Bay area with a focus on STEM. We are currently looking for collaborative opportunities within the Green Bay area to deliver this programming. Any gaps in delivery will be taken into consideration when determining the remodel of the existing service center or the building/leasing of an alternative space. Meanwhile, we are looking at expanding the existing retail after March 1, 2012.
