CAMP NAWAKWA

Located northwest of Cornell, WI, Camp Nawakwa (CN) contains three lodges, a dining hall with a lower level multi-purpose room, yurts, platform tents, tent cabins, and an amphitheater. There are hiking trails, large play field, waterfront area on Picnic Lake, ponds and Mt. Baldy, a glacial kame.

Accomodations & Reservations
Girl Scout troops, Service Areas and other Girl Scout groups are welcome and encouraged to utilize all of the fantastic GSNWGL properties. See Section F of The Source for details and guidelines. Summer Programs
CN offers resident camp sessions. 2010 Summer Camp sessions run from June 27–August 6. Sleeping accommodations include primitive tent camping, yurts, platform tents, cabins, or lodges. Additional information will be provided upon registration.

Camp Nawakwa Open House and Camp Clean Up
Families and alumni are invited to Camp Nawakwa’s open house on Saturday, June 26, from 1:00–4:00 p.m. Counselors will be available to answer questions, play games and give tours. The waterfront will be open too so bring your suit! Nawakwa will provide snacks and most of all FUN! Camp Clean Up is scheduled for Saturday, May 22, from 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.

Art Divas

Put your smock on and prepare to get messy! You decide what projects you want to create throughout the week. You can paint murals, tie-dye clothes, finger knit, make jewelry, create nature crafts or make candles! This session will definitely keep your hands busy and colorful!

Unleash your inner artist! Explore the different arts n’ crafts by drawing, painting and creating your way through this colorful week. When you’re not in the arts n’ crafts building, discover what other surprises camp has to offer.

Beach Bums

Grab your beach towel, sunscreen and friends, then head off to the beach to spend time at a few different area beaches. Swim, picnic on the beach and snorkel with your friends. You’ll even earn and receive the Water Fun badge while you’re there!

Are you a camp champ? We want you on our team! Try sports from around the world, organize a camp-wide soccer game, and invent your own sport.

Camp Guru

Always wonder what it’s like to be a CIT or a staff member at camp? Learn about leadership, teambuilding, and what staff members and CITs do behind the scenes. Come back later in the summer for up to two nights to job shadow or volunteer at camp. This is just what you need if you’re thinking about becoming a Counselor In Training.

Club Camp

The gang’s all here at Club Camp! Sample all of camp’s treasures: swimming, hiking, arts n’ crafts, nature activities and singing campfire songs. It’s up to you and your group to decide what adventures you want to explore!

Counselor in Training I – NAW

Do you love your camp counselors so much that you want to be one? The first step is to complete Counselor in Training I. While in training, you’ll experience how camp is run from different perspectives: staff, campers, and volunteers. Study different grade levels, learn how to lead…and when to follow. What kind of a camp counselor will you be?

Counselor in Training II – NAW

This program is for girls who have completed Counselor in Training I. Participants will travel to different camps for a firsthand look at how each camp is run and a hands-on apprenticeship in their chosen specialty.

Doodlebugs
Grades: 1-3

This three day camp program is great for a first time camper. Play games, make cool arts n’ crafts, explore the waterfront and experience a bit of what Camp Nawakwa is all about. An excellent choice if you’d rather not be away from home for a full week.

Grossology

Strap on your goggles and try awesomely gross science experiments! Make slime, learn weird facts - like how many times people burp in a day or why feet smell, and explore the wonders of a frog pond.

Guppies
Grades: 1–4

Summer in the Northwoods at its best! Spend time at the waterfront swimming, playing in the sand and boating! Take a stroll along the beach, make arts n’ crafts at water’s edge, and even have a floating lunch! Don’t worry about getting water-logged; dry off next to the campfire.

Harriet Potter

Leave your muggle life behind to explore the adventures of Hogwarts! Try bewitching activities including Quidditch, Herbology, Potions, and Care of Magical Creatures. Where will the sorting hat place you?

Kickin’ It Campside
Grades: 1-4

Want to come to camp to just, well….CAMP?! Here is a week of action-packed fun just for you! Swim, hike, do arts n’ crafts, sing campfire songs, and sleep under the stars with all your new camp friends. Whether you’re a beginner or seasoned camper, you’ll love this session!

Making Waves
Grades: 4–6
Dates: July 11–16, August 1–6
Cost: $230
Have gills instead of lungs? Fins rather than feet? Then you’ll feel right at home swimming, floating lunches, canoeing, water gymnastics and building sand castles. Leave the waterfront just long enough to cook over a campfire and explore some non-aquatic areas of camp too! Intermediate swim level preferred.

Mischief and Mayhem
Grades: 7-10
Dates: June 27–July 2, July 18–23
Cost: $270
Knock, knock! Who’s there? You and your BFs, that’s who! Play pranks, have a comedy night, send another cabin group on a scavenger hunt, and make up cool skits and songs – there are plenty of shenanigans to go around! Forget the class clown…you’ll be the camp clown!

Moonlight Magic
Grades: 4–7
Dates: July 25-30
Cost: $270
What do night owls do at camp? They stargaze, hike by the light of the moon, camp and swim under the stars! Spend one night away from camp to go bowling and have an ice cream social. Since you’ll be up late, sleep in the next morning.

Nawakwa Flames
Grades: 7-10
Dates: July 25-30
Cost: $270
Bring your spark to camp! Learn and practice how to start safe campfires, fix tasty fire-roasted treats and teach fire safety to younger girls. Cook out at the waterfront, learn about solar cookers, make edible fires, and learn how to keep a fire ablaze in the rain (weather permitting).

Nawakwa Me
Grades: 7–10
Dates: July 11–23
Cost: $490
Spend time just chillin’, being yourself, and making new friends with fellow campers and counselors. Paint a mural, have a spa day, camp at a primitive site, clear a trail, try a picnic in a canoe, sleep under the stars, organize a camp-wide dance party or whatever else comes to mind. You can do it all during this two week program.

Pony Tails
Grades: 4-6
Dates: June 27–July 2, July 11–16, July 25–30,
    August 1–6
Cost: $235
Saddle Up, partner! You’ll practice horse safety and learn the basics of working with and caring for horses before riding. Spend a few days at the stables getting comfortable with the horses. When you’re not at the stables enjoy activities such as swimming, hiking and nature activities. This is a beginner horse program that has something for everyone!

Porpoise
Grades: 5–7
Dates: June 27–July 2, August 1–6
Cost: $270
Dive into all of the water opportunities Camp Nawakwa has to offer! Swim across the lake, make sand candles or plaster casts on the beach, sail, hike along the water, partake in a polar bear swim and a night swim, canoe and even sleep on the beach!

Silver Spurs
Grades: 7-10
Dates: July 25–August 6
Cost: $580
Buckle up your boots and grab your broncos because this is going to be one wild ride! Spend three hours at a horse stable seven days during your session. Review the basics of working with horses while practicing team building skills. Learn some new moves that will help you bond with your horse.

Simple Survival
Grades: 4-6
Dates: July 11-16
Cost: $230
Discover the adventure as you challenge yourself in the out-of-doors. Set up your campsite, cook meals over the campfire, learn about jack-knife safety and more. Then take the easy road and eat in the dining hall, spend time at the waterfront and enjoy the art and nature buildings.

Switchin’ Kitchen
Grades: 4-7
Dates: July 25-30
Cost: $250
There’s nothing quite like cooking and living in the great outdoors. Camp out in a different camp location each night and cook scrumdiddlyumptious meals over the campfire each day. When you’re not testing your culinary creativity or moving around camp, check out arts n’ crafts, the nature building or the waterfront.

Teen Explorer
Grades: 10-12
Dates:June 27–July 2
Cost: $240
Liven up your summer with a week at Camp Nawakwa. Spend your time hanging out with friends, soaking up some vitamin D and relaxing. You’ll get to share your skills with younger campers, too!

The “Mane” Event
Grades: 5-7
Dates: June 27–July 2, July 11–16, July 18-23
Cost: $335
Back in the saddle again! Spend three hours at a horse stable three days during the week. Improve your riding skills and sharpen your knowledge of horses while earning the Horse Rider Badge. When not riding, there will be plenty of time for campfires, swimming and exploring Nawakwa!

Total Drama Island
Grades: 5–7
Dates: July 18-23
Cost: $230
Reality camp at its best! Participate in challenges seen in reality television shows. It’s all fun and games at this drama-filled camp.

Troop Adventure – NAW
Grades: K-12
Dates:July 18-23
Cost:$230/person, 1 adult FREE with every 8
    girl registrations!
Go to camp with your whole troop! Experience the northwoods with your troop as you participate in a variety of activities, including canoeing, kayaking, nature study, mountain biking, crafts, archery, games, teambuilding and more. Troop leaders are welcome to join the troop as their counselor, however not necessary.

Wild West – NAW
Grades: 9-12
Dates: July 25-August 6
Cost: $470
Travel to North Dakota for an unforgettable experience in the Badlands backcountry! Spend a week in Theodore Roosevelt National Park hiking, horseback riding, sightseeing and shopping. Pitch your tents under the stars and enjoy the beauty of the “wild west.”
