Wilderness and Remote First Aid
This American Red Cross wilderness-rated course includes training on remote-assessment skills, as well as emergency first-aid response, including evacuation techniques to use when EMS is not readily available. This class will be primarily outdoors, rain or shine. Plan on dressing for the weather conditions. Topics include: primary and secondary assessments, head/brain, neck and spinal injuries, heat-related emergencies, hypothermia, altitude-related illnesses, allergies and anaphylaxis, burns, bone and joint injuries, wounds and wound infection. Prerequisite: current adult & pediatric CPR/First Aid/AED certification. COVID-19 precautions will be in place. Wear a mask and prepare to stay socially distanced during the day. Bring your own lunch. Overnight accommodation available upon request.
