When you support Girl Scouts, you help a Girl Scout find her sparkle, you help a Girl Scout discover her shine, and you help a Girl Scout brighten the world!
You are an inspirational spark of light in her Girl Scout journey and amongst the many who profoundly influence her potential.
By Emily Bowels
It begins when she discovers
that ember at the center of a
campfire,
that flame at the base of a Bunsen burner:
a moment of brightening,
a moment of brilliance
that disappears, leaving behind
a trace of dust; she hears:
“you must…”
You must be small, polite, docile, acquiescent.
You must not
be anything at all,
the world will say,
and yet the World tells her differently too
when she touches
it and learns
about her world, about herself.
The luster is not lost for her—and
she learns how dust forms
her, or rather
she learns how dust forms for her,
in her
hands, through her work, it
becomes something more.
She begins when she discovers
she has what it takes to make
that star.
