Girl Scouts of the Northwestern Great Lakes relies on the strength of our communities to provide youth with life-changing opportunities. Through volunteerism, financial support, program collaborations, and in-kind donations, our community partners empower Girl Scouts across our 58-county council to see in action what we encourage them to do every day: Discover, Connect and Take Action.

Our program partners are experts in their field, passionate about their work, and eager to share their knowledge with Girl Scouts.

Field Trip & Travel Partner – As a Field Trip & Travel Partner, Girl Scouts come to you. Troops come to your facility and are led through a hands-on activity, tour, or other Girl Scout-specific programming. Learning is brought to life when Girl Scouts can experience it firsthand. From behind-the-scenes tours of police stations, banks, manufacturers, and grocery stores, to rock climbing and coding robots, no experience is too big or too small.
Event Partner - As an event partner, you’ll lend us your expertise and work with us to develop and run a hands-on Girl Scout event for 50–100 Girl Scouts. Share your knowledge, facilities, and the experiences you already offer with Girl Scouts in your community. With you as a resource, Girl Scouts can explore hands-on activities in the areas of STEM, entrepreneurship, outdoor education, practical life skills, arts and culture, community service, and so much more.

Become a Council Volunteer toggle arrow

Become a Council Volunteer - Council volunteers fill in wherever needed. They are corporate volunteers, Girl Scout alums, and donors looking to get more involved. We have volunteer opportunities that fit your schedule and interests. Corporate and individual council volunteers are welcome!
- Event Support Volunteer - Help deliver the Girl Scout experience to youth in grades K-12 by supporting staff-led programs during lunch recess, after-school sessions, and evening and weekend events. Assist with event logistics and youth activities at schools, community centers, council properties, and special events.
- Administrative Support Volunteer - Provide essential administrative support to Girl Scout staff by assisting with office tasks, organizing and kitting materials, managing basic data entry, and more. Flexible opportunities are available based on skills and interests.
- Property Support Volunteer - Support the maintenance and upkeep of Girl Scout properties by assisting with cleaning, landscaping, repairs, and general property management. Help create and maintain a safe and welcoming environment for Girl Scouts and visitors.
- Translator/Bilingual Advocate - Support Girl Scouts of the Northwestern Great Lakes (GSNWGL) by providing bilingual translation and/or interpretation services for families, volunteers, and staff. Help build trust and visibility in Spanish-, Hmong-, or Somali-speaking communities by increasing accessibility to GSNWGL communications and resources.

Become a Troop Volunteer toggle arrow

Troop Leader/Assistant Troop Leader - Troop Leaders and Assistant Troop Leaders are memory makers; they lead and guide a group of girls through Girl Scouting. They take the girls' interests, abilities, and opinions into consideration when planning out their fun.
Troop Helper – Troop Helpers play a big role in making the troop run smoothly. They're an extra set of eyes, ears, and hands that allow the troop to safely explore the world around them.
Troop Product Program Volunteer – Troop Product Program Volunteers coordinate the annual Fall Product Program or Girl Scout Cookie Program at the troop level. Manage the program and money, and then watch the girls light up when they reach their goals and learn something new.
Troop Treasurer - This role works with girls and the troop leader to keep troop finances in order. Troop treasurers work alongside the troop leader to prepare the annual troop finance report.

Become a Governance Volunteer toggle arrow

Board Member – GSNWGL Board Members advocate for Girl Scouts in their communities and help open doors for new and existing partnerships. Board members share their leadership, financial management, and entrepreneurial skills to help us deliver the Girl Scout mission. They attend at least four board meetings a year and serve on at least one board committee.
Board Committee Member – Board Committee Members serve on one or more of our governance committees and play a key role in shaping the Girl Scout Experience at the council level. Each committee has a different focus, with a different desired skillset. Board committees are: Audit Committee, Board Development Committee, Finance Committee, Fund Development Committee, and Ad Hoc Policy Review Committee.
Service Area Delegate – Service Area Delegates are selected for each of our governance regions and attend four meetings each year. They provide governance area representation to the council and influence the direction of local Girl Scouting by maintaining contact with and gathering input from members of the service areas and the community, to provide the board of directors with policy-related information.
National Delegate – National Delegates represent our council when they travel to attend the National Convention and engage in data gathering before and reporting after the Convention. National delegates gather feedback from service area meetings and regional meetings about proposals to discuss at the national session and share information learned with service area meetings and regional meetings. They attend 6-8 meetings each year.

Service Area Cookie Manager - Manage the sales, inventory, and finances for your service area.
Service Area Fall Product Sale Manager - Coordinate the annual fall product sale at the service area level. Manage the sales and finances for your service area.
Trainer/Coach - Use your personal expertise to mentor and train volunteers in your area!
Outdoor Champion - Outdoor Champions are passionate about getting girls outside! They have an interest and ability in one or more outdoor skills, especially fire building, outdoor cooking, camping, and leading outdoor activities. They enjoy teaching, supporting, and mentoring adults who want to lead girls of all ages in nature activities, outdoor skill progression, and earning outdoor badges.
Service Area Treasurer - As Service Area Treasurer, you'll be responsible for managing the service area bank account and helping make all those outstanding Girl Scout experiences possible for girls in your service area.
