Girl Scouts in Action: Jordan M. of Troop 3243

Girl Scouts every day, everywhere make a difference and Jordan is the perfect example. She decided to fill a community need for masks. Here's an exerpt from Jordan's project description:

For my Take Action Project, I have to do the following, which I have thought through and completed:

  • Identify a problem I want to do something about – watching news saw great need for masks
  • Come up with a creative and sustainable solution – talked to my leader and research making masks that are reusable and made from recyclable materials
  • Develop a plan – ask if there was a need and since there was, make a plan for supplies and getting orders
  • Put my plan into action  - make and deliver masks
  • Talk about what I’ve learned  - continue to talk to friends, family, and people in my community who need face masks

In working on her project Jordan provided our Council masks too! She supplied us with 17 masks. These masks were used to help girls who would traditionally not be able to join Girl Scout Troops. GSNWGL staff have been busy creating virtual content for our volunteers and girls and we’re also reaching out to girls who might not have access to our online programs. Girl Scouts has developed materials and packing for “Girl Scout Care Kits” filled with fun activities and hygiene kits for girls. These packages are being delivered all over their Council to girls who they know could use these items right now. The packages are getting a huge response! One of the moms sent us a note immediately: “Thank you sooo much!!!! The girls love everything in the bags they also said thank u!!!!!”
