How to earn the Girl Scout Gold Award
- Gold Award Training is required. Sign up for a virtual training in MyGS or contact info@gsnwgl.org to receive a link to our recorded training or request an on-demand training.
- Get familiar with the resources, especially Your Guide to Going Gold and the Funding Your Gold Award Guide. Share the Guides for Adults with any adult mentors who will be helping you along the way.
- Create a profile in Go Gold, our online platform for organizing your Gold Award project and submitting your proposal and final report.
- Find an issue in your community or the world that you care about.
- Learn everything you can about that issue through research and trusted sources.
- Form a team by identifying experts and people in your community who could help you.
- Think about the root cause of an issue, then make a plan of how you could tackle it.
- Submit your project proposal through Go Gold at least three weeks before your proposed start date. You’ll be connected with our Gold Award Committee* who will review your project. Girl Scouts going for the Gold Award must receive council approval before starting their project.
- Once you receive approval from the Gold Award Committee, lead your team and carry out your plan.
- Submit your final report through Go Gold after your project completion (but no later than September 30 after high school graduation). The Gold Award Committee will review your work. It’s time to celebrate, share you story, and inspire other to make a difference, too!
