How to Celebrate: AANHPI Heritage Month

AANHPI Heritage Month 2024

The 2024 National AANHPI Heritage Month Theme is, "Advancing Leaders Through Innovation''. This year's theme is a continuation of the "Advancing Leaders'' series that began in 2021. While navigating through cultural and systemic barrier, many people belonging to AANHPI leadership have made impacts on history and continue to influence the future through technological advancements, social and political change, and economic prosperity.

There are many ways for you and your Girl Scouts to celebrate and give back during this month!

  • Girl Scouts can earn their Girl Scout Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month Sew-On Patch | Girl Scout Shop
  • Anyone interested in more information can go to the Volunteer Collective: Multicultural Community Celebrations | Girl Scouts
  • Read Children’s Books that Celebrate AAPI Heritage – Happiest Baby, Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Reading List for Kids | The New York Public Library (nypl.org) and watch this short video Fun Picks to Celebrate AANHPI Heritage Month | Common Sense Media to find movies that celebrate AANHPI Heritage Month
  • Donate on the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) website at Donate (wagggs.org)
  • Based on this year’s theme, consider donating to other organization supporting these causes: Make a Gift | Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center - Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center
  • Consider an activity that correlates with the celebration and achievements of AANHPI’s Free Learning Resources to Celebrate Asian American Heritage | Common Sense Education

In 2021, nearly 26 million people in the United States identified as Asian, Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander. To honor these Americans, consider spending some time this month learning about all the ways that they have made an impact in the United States of America.
